3D Ultrasound

We scheduled a 3D/4D ultrasound! There is a little maternity spa/ultrasound center that does lots of fun services for pregnant ladies. They are having a special on 3D/4D ultrasounds ($99), so we decided to take advantage.

It's a 30 minutes session of watching the baby in "real time". Traditional ultrasounds are delayed, so you don't see the movement as it is happening, but with this ultrasound we will actually be able to see what he is doing, when he is doing it. That is why they call it 4D, because it happens in "real time". And of course it is 3D because you aren't seeing just a slice of the baby like a traditional ultrasound, you are seeing an actual shape of the baby, and can even distinguish his features.

With the price of the session you get 6 printed images. If your baby isn't cooperating, they will let you come back another time (for free) in order to get some better shots. We have that scheduled for the 17th of October, so four weeks away! I didn't want to wait that long, but the farther along we are, the closer Junior will be to resembling the baby that we will see at the end of this journey. At that point he will be 32 weeks, so it seemed like a good compromise between waiting until he is cuter and also having something to look forward to sooner than December.

Here is an example of some random baby's 3D ultrasound (at 32 weeks), just in case you have never seen one!

We are both really looking forward to it! Can't wait to see some early pictures of junior, maybe we will even be able to tell whose nose he has!
