Blessed Beyond Measure
We are blessed.
I have been blessed.
I have been given the gift of a wonderful man. A man whose outstanding caliber is a rare find in this world today. A man whose love for his wife and children is only (very slightly) surpassed by his love for our Creator. A man whose dedication to providing for his family is matched only by his strength of will and greatness of character. A man whose weaknesses could be numbered on one hand and whose strengths are countless. A man who strives for integrity rather than wealth, humility rather than glory, and sincerity rather than power. One man in a million.
I have been blessed with a partner who would selflessly work every hour of the day to provide his family with the things they need as well as the things they want. I have also been blessed with a partner who values the short hours he has each day to spend with his wife and son. Who values taco nights, animal puzzles, bath times, and family hugs. I have a partner who works very hard to manage the delicate balance between the two. A partner who shoulders the hefty weight of providing for our family, yet never falters to to be present in our lives.
My children are blessed with a wonderful father. A daddy who leads by example. A daddy who never swears or raises his voice. A daddy who is patient and loving. A daddy with a strong mind, who thinks for himself, who stands up for what he believes in, who doesn't care what others think. A daddy who would rather read a story than watch television. A daddy who would rather go for a walk than take a nap. A daddy who values time with his son(s) more than time with his coworkers or friends. A daddy who will let them eat spaghetti on the couch, run around naked, and play in the sand. A daddy who will teach them to play soccer and baseball. A daddy who can teach them to change the oil in their car or how to use the Pythagorean Theorem. A daddy who will teach them to love their neighbors, their mother, and, most importantly, to love their God. A daddy like no other.
I have been blessed with a wonderful husband. A husband who will work ten hours in a day then come home and do the laundry. A husband who will get up in the middle of the night to soothe a crying a child even when he has to work in the morning. A husband who doesn't mind leftovers, toys on the floor, or re-wearing the same pair pants without being washed. A husband who shares crosswords. A husband who lets me pick the movie, the radio station, the restaurant. A husband who motivates me to be better, but loves me as I am. A husband who I can count on. A husband who knows the value of marriage. Who is trustworthy. Who only has eyes for me. A husband who puts his wife before himself. A husband who loves me unconditionally. Who accepts my faults. Who knows my heart. A husband with a shoulder to cry on, who listens when I am upset. Who knows what to say. A husband with a sensitive nature and an inner strength beyond my own. A husband that I know I will love just as much in fifty years as I do today. A husband who could never be replaced. My protector, my shelter, my other half, my best friend. A husband whom is impossible to sum up in a few written words.
Today, and every day, I am thankful. I am thankful for him. I am thankful for his kind heart and generous nature. I don't, nor can I ever, say enough how grateful I am for his love.
I love you, Matthew. More than I can say. Having you as my husband is my greatest treasure. I don't know what I have done to be deserving of such a blessing. More than likely, I am not deserving. I am not worthy of the blessings that I have been given. I am flawed, I make mistakes. It is by God's Grace alone that you came into my life and chose me for your wife. If I ever need proof of God's existence and mercy, I have only to look beside me. Too often, life goes by and I don't take the time to say what is in my heart. But I feel these things. Every day. I know how good I have it, what a wonderful life I live, and how blessed I am. How blessed we are.
We are blessed beyond measure.
